At the beginning of the recording, a rather large male is fighting off competitors from his „harem“. The kind of individual who is significantly larger than the one fleeing, almost three meters long and weighing almost three hundred kilograms. When such a figure crawls past the the camera, the image is „shaking“.

 

Females go into heat right after they finish nursing, about three weeks after giving birth. A female with a pup clearly exhibits to her suitors that she is not ready for mating, both with her attitude and body language. Her bodylength can be up to two and a half meters and the weight over one hundred kilograms (during nursing period the female loses up to forty kilograms in ten days – these numbers are estimations).

 

The mother seal who we can see in the video has a pup whose coat is already a bit darker – he is about ten days old and weighs about thirty kilograms.

 

Windspeed was forecasted to increase up to 15 m/s on the Baltic Sea on Friday afternoon, the water level was sure to rise, we`ll see where the seals will be located...
