Current stand of swine fever in the Baltic countries

Currently swine fever has been diagnosed in 6 Estonian counties where 11 infection centres have been identified. Danger zones with restrictions exist in 11 counties.
 
Diseased area no. 11 was diagnosed on July 8 and covers Järvamaal Järva-Jaani, Kareda, Koeru and Roosna-Alliku administrative areas; battue hunting as well as hunting with dogs is forbidden.
 
In Latvia the second case of diagnosed African swine fever in a domestic pig was confirmed by the Veterinary Agency this summer.
 
In the eastern part of Latvia, in Cibla county, 5 domestic pigs have caught the African swine fever. Until now the disease has been mainly found in wild boar in the Baltic countries
