When the snow is finally disappearing rocks and fossils reappear in all their splendour. In the Vilsandi national park, towards Soegnina, a walker on the bank can discover beautiful convolute fossils. The photo shows typical snails or gastropods – “stomach-foots”. They occur in all strata, but in large masses particularly in the Rootsiküla stratum, from the Silurian period, that makes up the Soeginina bank. They are also to be found in the Raikküla stratum. But the main thing – on walks in many other places you may come across such finds.
Happy discoveries on the limestone banks!
