New Camera

This year the Winter White-tailed Eagle Feeding Ground Camera starts a little later than in previous years. The camera was installed on December 8, with the assistance of Tiit and Joosep, but we only managed to get the sound in working order in the new year, with the help of Beta Group.

Birdman Hannes Margusson wrote very aptly already the year before last:
“A little while ago I saw the willow tit at the feeder. First there was the sound in the computer "di-dää-dää, di-dää-dää"; I opened the webplayer window and soon the little guy was there. A large black diffusely edged throat patch and paler panels on the wings, all nicely visible”.
The willow tit and the marsh tit are similar to the point of confusion; the call described by Hannu is the most reliable sign of the willow tit’s presence.

The estimated winter number of willow tits is up to five times larger than that of marsh tits, or half a million, with variations; years aren’t brothers and alike, but the number is considerably larger than that of marsh tits.
