The weekend in Haanja

"Moment of rest". Jay.
The glorious Haanja landscape and "Arossa” Villa hosted the participants in Arne Ader’s nature photo school last weekend. The daylight part of Saturday passed with plodding in snow up to the knees, in places up to the waist, to search for beautiful views, light and shade, and traces of life. One feature of the course was a photo contest, won by Kaido Kaasa with the photo above, "Moment of rest”.
It must be said that the hard frost and the extremely thick snow makes all birds and animals save energy and so, in a way, take days of rest.
To find wild animals or birds wasn’t the easiest task and to get a photo worth an award didn’t make it easier. The jay in the photo had chosen a bush next to a guelder rose as its resting place, so it wouldn’t have far to move if hunger were to set in.
More beautiful photos from the contest at the course will be shown in Looduskalender. The story and the wow of photography itself continues at the end of February, when Urmas Tartes will develop what Arne Ader started.
The time schedule and other details are on the home page of Viitina Nature Education Centre.
