New Camera

This year the Winter White-tailed Eagle Feeding Ground Camera starts a little later than in previous years. The camera was installed on December 8, with the assistance of Tiit and Joosep, but we only managed to get the sound in working order in the new year, with the help of Beta Group.

Partridges, in size as small hens, aren’t found in the forest, only in meadows or fields overgrown with weeds

Life isn’t easy for them in the thick snow: food has to be dug and scratched out from under the snow. But in a hard frost the snow is of course also a protective blanket. Although the lower photo shows the movement tracks of the birds in the snow, with hard frost they usually sit almost motionless in the snow blanket, only the brick red tops of their heads showing. In a snowstorm they seek shelter near hedges, to get some more protection.
Winter foods are the seeds of weeds, spilled grains of corn, bits of herbaceous plants
