A sparrowhawk has caught a domestic pigeon.

The harsh winter weather has made winter birds gather near bird feeders. A surprise attack at lightning speed in these places is a chance for birds of prey. The females of sparrowhawks are clearly larger than the male birds and markedly more grey-coloured. They can tackle domestic pigeons successfully.
A sparrowhawk’s flight is extremely rapid and it can swoop through bare tree crowns most impressively.
