It is entertaining to see their winter games. At the forest camera and the winter eagle camera feeding grounds we can see that the birds already feel spring in their hearts. The ravens’ nests, usually in the tops of pine trees, are still covered by thick snow, but in fair weather mating flight displays can be seen.
Not only the feathering is black: the feet are black, the beak is black, the eyes are black. There can’t be a blacker bird.
In folk traditions and fairy tales the raven is associated with witches and other such creatures living in the deep forests, but it has never been linked with evil; the raven was always seen as a clever bird whose advice was well worth listening to.
