On Saturday, March 11, at 6.15 pm in Baer’s house at Veski 4, Tartu, one more of the Estonian Ornithological Society’s lecture evenings takes place.

Raul Rosenvald from the Estonian University of Life Sciences talks on "Does saving retention trees and protecting primeval forests help Estonian forest birds?”

For more than ten years retention trees have been left standing on felled areas in Estonia, and the area of strictly protected forests is being increased to secure the habitats of primeval forest inhabitants. Results from recent investigations will be presented showing whether forest-living birds profit from this, which birds and to what extent.

The lecture series "Universities into society!” try to give an idea of what is happening in the forefront of ornithological research, by inviting ornithologists at our universities to share recent knowledge with all bird enthusiasts. New astonishing facts can be expected, as well as many illustrations from colourful field work life! The lectures are in everyday language and easy to follow for all.
