Clicking summer night

The rhythmic clickings of spotted crakes create a sound image of summer nights in watery sedge, rush and reed surroundings. Their bright sound surprises with its presence: the singers always seem to be much nearer than they actually are. The crakes are like clocks ticking in the wet grass, telling the time every three-quarters of a second: "üitt - üitt - üitt...".
