Yes, Kip, that was such a remarkable scenery. The sunsets usually are very spectacular, but this was even more. Happy, that you like it! Also the fight of the Nyala bulls was so breathtaking. Unfortunately you cannot show that in a few pictures. Also James was so surprised and meant he only had seen something like that once. Usually all the animals avoid getting hurt if possible....
Have a nice day and a good start into the month of February!

Karula has at least one cub.
I did not see anything but Brent confirmed, he and Andrew saw one cub -- there may be two, but they confirmed one cub in the den in the bank of the dry river bed. They have put that part of the river bed out of order for safari vehicles.
Shadow has been acting funny. Maybe she also will give birth.
Tingana has lost his zebra kill. The hyena are said to have dragged it away.

SafariLive video on facebook
finally I was able to see the movement that is Karula's cub
https://www.facebook.com/LIVEsafariLIVE ... nref=story
I had to view it full screen. The wiggles that are the cub are through the arch, just to the left and below the start/play arrow.

I learned more about the Southern Ground Hornbills -- they mature at about 6 years old, but rarely nest until they are 9. And if they do not serve as nest assistants for at least 6 years their nesting success rate is very low. Each breeding pair usually has several assistants. Like Lesser Spotted Eagles they usually lay two eggs but only one chick survives. So there is a breeding program -- people steal the second egg and raise the chicks. I don't think they put the older chicks back in the nest. I think they release them when they are old enough -- except, the chicks are dependent on their parents for 2 years! How can people teach them to be proper Ground Hornbills? Brent said this breeding program was quite successful. So I am not sure.
Today Brent mentioned who is where -- Tebs (I liked him. Plus he was a great leopard spotter.) left to do other things. He is recently engaged so maybe it was important to leave the bush and be nearer his girl friend. And Jondre has been in Madagascar. He had signed that contract before he joined Wild Earth. He will be back. Scott and Nicki are back today and I think there is a new camera man and a tech person joining today.
