Mom Heron sits so patiently immobile on her nest; of course, herons also are able to stand very still while waiting for a fish to swim by, too.

View of the heron nest from overhead cam. Love Mom Heron's long feathers. A cardinal is calling rapidly in the background, "cheer-cheer-cheer-cheer-cheer."

The Eaglecrest family of Canada Geese enjoys a quiet afternoon browsing by the side of their pond. All 7 goslings are present.

Mother Goose & Dad herd their little ones into the water. They heard a red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) calling from overhead, & it is safer on the pond than beside it. The hawk lands near the old nest platform-- where hawks nested before geese-- & looks it over. The starling that has built a nest in the tree cavity next to the nest platform is keeping very quiet. The starling prefers geese to hawks as neighbors!

15:11 local USA time (PDT)-- You can see why we call it the red-tailed hawk at 0:53-0:56 on the recording.

Observing the red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) on a limb near the Eaglecrest nest platform where Mother Goose & Dad hatched their 7 goslings recently. The platform used to be a red-tailed hawk nesting site until it was blown down by a bad windstorm. The hawks did not return after the platform was rebuilt, & Canada geese moved in, instead. Do the hawks now want to reclaim the nest?

Hello,
I just looked at the webcam of Hornoya - www.birdwatch.tv - and there are puffins now! It's so great to see them. I'm not sure where I found the name of the site for the first time. Somewhere on this forum I think.
:loveshower:
