And at least one of the parents is still around, scolding the intruder!

weight was 3.7 kg, about as much as our cat lady Ritva. tarsus diameter was 12.4 cm. (thanks Liis!)did i hear Urmas say that it was "isaslind", a male?

and ring codes were Est M1008 and year ring all-black E094. this is difficult: same year colour as last summer. :puzzled:

Weight is 3,7 kilos, it is a boy judged from the leg measure (XX.X? 2,4? didn't quite hear, Ame!; Edit - you were right, 2,4 cm; erased my misheard number!), wing measure 30,5 cm.
Urmas will turn the camera off briefly to repair some connections better.
Thank you, Urmas!

yes, it seems that we have a boy.
Mutikluti decided that a boy shall be called ILLIMAR.

Illimar is the title character in a popular Estonian novel “Little Illimar” (original title “Väike Illimar”) by one of the most famous Estonian writers Friedebert Tuglas. Though the novel is about the life of this little boy it is not a children’s book.

Illimar is a little boy who sees nature and its phenomena with innocent eyes and open mind, ready to learn. In a way he is like “our” eaglet who has been looking at the wide world around the top of the tree, seeing over longer and longer distances during these past weeks and learning about it.

after 5 - 6 weeks Illimar will rise on its wings. let’s hope that he will then successfully gain air under his wings, get “tuult tiibadesse”, as is said in Estonian, and will begin exploring the world and attain control of his life successfully.

i have posted something more about the book Little Illimar in the Stories-department here:
viewtopic.php?p=243966#p243966

unfortunately i didn’t find much information about the book though. if any of our Estonian members knows more about it please write more there.

Mutikluti chose an Estonian name for a male eaglet and a Finnish name for a female. thank you Mutikluti!

Yes, you are probably right fullgrown WTE should be around 9-10+ cm, so 2,4 cm for Mr Junior!

Image Then - to our Illimar - have a happy and long life, always wind under your wings and maybe show yourself sometimes at the feeding ground!
Thanks Urmas!
