Re: White Tailed Eagles Discussion 2010
Kenny should be right, the camera is looking more-less north (did not measure on place exactly).
We will see, if that is better in sunny days. We hope so!
The image of nest tree and somebody climbing there, it is from last year. This year the cam is on the same tree, only about two meters of nest, almost oposite direction.

Good morning -
there are Pontu images from about 6.50 (camera time) onwards http://pontu.eenet.ee/kotkas/2010-03-04 ... -06-50.jpg
but my direct stream screen stays blank (rather, black). Can see all other cams, both RealPlayer & MediaPlayer.
There were local Internet transmission problems in my area yesterday, very curiously selective, but this ...?
(Sound of something - wind? - can be heard)
EDIT: See Mutikluti's post above: camera image seems to be down

good morning and thanks for the morning/evening pictures. judging by them i agree with Kenny and Urmas confirmed that the camera is pointing more or less to the North - North-West. that is good: we'll have the mid-day sun behind 'our backs' and the lighting will be optimal on the nest. if there was only one possible branch where to install the camera, we were really lucky because i think this is the best possible viewing angle.
i opened the camera some time ago and i had the sound on for some minutes but no picture... it's good there's Pontu.
i have one more question: how far is this nest from the WTE feeding place? (maybe this information has already been somewhere, but i've forgotten... )
urmas has really been brave, climbing those trees. they look breath-takingly high.
edit 9.25: yes! the camera works again!

the cam seems to be down again...
the Pontu pictures above are amazingly clear.
now the cam returned!
and went away...
10.58: and back again!
BTW: we have also one more advantage over last season: the camera and the nest are in the same tree. maybe this will mean less seasickness for us, as the cam and the nest will sway in the wind together in same pace...
the camera keeps going off and coming back... it's snowing quietly...

This cam is solar-powered too, so if the light is poor the camera doesn't function?
Oh, no. Not snow on the solar panels.

it looks so cool and calm, looking around the scenery. to me it looks rather peaceful... i think it's mainly the wind that is fluffing the feathers. -the eagles usually have a furry look.
