Good morning

@ Kitty: Yes, Urmas said Renno found a new nest at the sea shore (1,5km away).

It was last summer, Ame, when we kept asking if there was any news of Linda & Sulev. It seemed that the new nest was probably owned by Linda & Sulev, so we at least had hope that they raised another family, or at least they were still together.

i must have missed that news or then forgotten it...
that is sooo good to know.
i was secretly worried that something might have happened to either of them.

it sounds like constant rain now. if this goes on all day it will be the end of the snow in the nest.
i'll be away the rest of today.

(Bird image in Fireblades post just above this one)

 Looks a little small, but might be. Raubwürger = grey shrike = hallõgija
Observations in Estonia this year (2012): 84; map HERE. A nice collection of observations on the western mainland coast, so why not.

Sorry, tried to edit my post above, 4 times, but each time the bottom menu line (Submit etc) just disappeared.

Might be one of the grey tits too: it seems quite small for a shrike.

Me too. I just knew it because Urmas mentioned it recently when I informed him about the eagle voices near the nest. He said Renno posted this information somewhere at the forum, but I missed it also.

A fine snapshot, fireblade!

Apart from this visitor it was a quiet day here.

In any case, it's not tit. Could be Raubwürger, but I have yet one idea. May be it's nuthatch.

good morning! :hi:
it's a windy and grey morning at the nest. no-one around...

i scrolled through pages 70-81 (dates from beginning of June to beginning of this year's camera season Feb 19th) and did not find any message by Urmas or Renno about the other nest.
... but i found some fun memories of the very event-poor summer here (like about cows and clovers  )

anyways: another nest was on my mind during last summer already. it was nicest to think that L&S were raising another family somewhere else.

btw: my first thought about the little bird above in Fireblade's picture was a nuthatch. shouldn't shrike still be in the South? but the picture is rather fuzzy...

It was only a very short visit. Yesterday I saw a Raubwürger live here in the "south". Always not sitting very high on small trees.

There are two shrike species in Baltic states: Lanius collurio and Lanius excubitor (third one - Lanius minor is very rare). Lanius colurio flies to Africa in autumn but many Lanius excubitor stays at home during winter.
