i'm slightly worried: the egg has been alone at home for half an hour! :slap:
Image

Halli was busy bringing new greeneries to the nest in the morning after 10. i don't know yet how many trips he made. a jay or two followed at his tail from a few of these trips... now he's been gone since 12.04... at least out of sight.

if i counted right Halli made 7 trips away from home between 10 and 12. on the 8th time he did not return but Pruuni got back home before him. i wonder what he ended up doing...? :puzzled:
before the last departure he got up a few times but returned back to the egg after preening himself on the edge of the nest for some time. he was looking into the forest, too, before returning down...

EDIT: Halli made the first trip out of nest at 9.58. then he stood on the nest preening, kaa'ed a little and then flew out just by the camera. then there was more kaa'ing, it sounded like to voices (a jay, too?) and then Halli returned just the same.
Imagewww.picasion.com

after that Halli made 7 trips this morning:
out at 10.12, back at 10.15, followed by a jay, could not see if he brought a twig
out at 10.35, back at 10.36, followed by a jay and brought green twig
out at 10.39, back at 10.42, followed by a jay or even two, could not see if he brought a twig
out at 11.04, back at 11.05, brought a big green twig
out at 11.15, back at 11.23, could not see if he brought a twig
out at 11.26, back at 11.28, brought a green twig
out at 11.29 (a jay was present when he left!), back at 11.45, brought a big green twig
and finally out at 12.01 and did not return earlier than 13.38

here Halli leaves at 11.04.

and here he brings a big green leafy twig at 11.05.

EDIT: besides these trips Halli brought one big aspen leaved-twig from the home tree at 6.51.

Halli returned at 13.38. i don't think he even brought anything.
Imagewww.picasion.com

they talked a little, that is that Pruuni kaa'ed a lot loudly and Halli grunted a few purr's.
Imagewww.picasion.com

then he took off again.
Imagewww.picasion.com

now Pruuni is sleeping again.

Halli was tired after all the work he had done earlier today, Agatheb2k. :D
welcome!

Halli sneaked out of the nest again at 17.25.
Imagewww.picasion.com

within about a minute a jay shrieked and then Halli landed at the nest with a small twig. he had the jay immediately following him. the jay made quarrel for some time.
Imagewww.picasion.com

boy do i get worried when Halli does that, goes away and leaves the egg alone! :slap:
luckily it seems that the jay is not nearby when he leaves, but notices that Halli is in the air and follows him to the nest. that seems to be a rule. i'm still puzzled about the one trip this morning: it sounded like the jay was near the nest when Halli left, but it must have followed Halli out and not come in. (that was rather stupid of the jay i think...)

Halli returned at 18.01, followed closely by the jay.
Imagewww.picasion.com

they are having a "chat" now...
EDIT: afterwards it has come to my mind that maybe Halli flies to the jays' nest when he flies off from here. then the jay could chase him away from their home and follow him here. :puzzled: in that case Halli would be the bully. who knows. it just goes almost like clock-work: Halli leaves alone and returns with the jay glued to his tail.

oh dear there was some threat again but i could not see what...? Pruuni was standing up with her wings wide open and snapped them against something...?

oh dear again, it was just a nuthatch!
Image

we both are getting jumpy. :rotf:
Imagewww.picasion.com

if she were an ice-hockey goal-keeper this one she would have let through. Pruuni didn't even notice it was gone when she flapped her wings the second time.

a jay came to say good night to Pruuni who has been sleeping for quite a while already. she woke up but decided that a jay is not worth her attention and tucked her head under the wing again.

head twisted backwards... :slap: it escapes my comprehension how such a posture can be comfortable.

May 29th
good morning! :hi:
oh dear, macdoum! you made my heart miss one beat.... :slap: the pages load rather slowly sometimes. :D

Halli came to release Pruuni at 6.44.

Imagepicasion.com

he brought nothing and they had the short morning talk: Pruuni kaa'ed less than normally (no delivery, no thanks) and Halli purr'ed a few times.
Imagepicasion.com

then Pruuni took off to find something for herself and Halli jumped from the nest rim down to the egg and settle there.
