i don't think it ate much anything after all. it climbed to the back branch rather quickly and is sitting there. - a songthrush began to sing quite close.

after sitting on the branch for a while it took off at 12.33.

at 12.56 meowing began far and 2 minutes later a dark buzzard came to the nest to eat the vole/mouse. it also looked bigger than the one who brought the mouse.

now it's sitting on the back branch... what?... who is calling out there?? :puzzled:
... in the end of this long version...

now i really hope it's not an eagle who was there....

here's the "director's cut" of the above video. this one starts at 12.58 with the arrival of the buzzard and ends when buzzards finishes eating, before the loud bird calls.

the buzzard came at 14.57 again, but also this time it didn't stay very long and did almost nothing in the nest, just dug the bottom and pressed it a little with its breast.

at 15.19 the buzzard came and "made bed" for some time in the nest before climbing to the back branch. there it sits and preens now.
Image

at 15.30 the other began calling from a distance... and it came to the nest, too.
Image

but it didn't stay long. the other arranged the twigs in the nest bolw a little more, but then it climbed again back to the back branch.

well that was interesting! both buzzards were busy at the nest.

the more grey one was at one point digging in the bottom of the nest upside down with the tail up in the air. the browner one was on the right branch and talking to the other....
Image

then it walked out of the picture along the branch.

the grey one climbed up from the nest bowl but returned down. then at about 16.07 someone called from the forest like an eagle..? :puzzled:

the grey buzzard left. almost at the same time a jay shrieked and the brown called back (from outside the picture). it sounded angry. then it took off, too, and at the same time a jay came to look at the nest.
Image

soon another jay came, too.
Image

they were looking for eggs!

this is a busy afternoon! the buzzard came back at 17.19.
Image

it sat on the back branch and preened a while and then it came back in the nest.
... and back to the back branch and from there to the right branch. then it walked out of the picture. it looks like a goblin when it walks along the branch.
Image

it's still on the branch there, i can hear it call...
