18:08, Not much changed -she is still standing on the nest. Her mate was there for a moment and left.

I think he wants to mate - and the female on the nest is not in the mood ?!Lucy wrote:Hi
I recorded this curious behaviour of female eagle. Isn’t the “intruder” her male? ... but for some reasons she doesn’t let him come closer to the nest ... maybe she really laid egg(s) ??? But why she behaves so surprisingly? When observing the American Bald Eagles (close cousins of our eagles) I saw that they share their incubation duty and give each other the breaks so the other can feed.

LOL - what fun we have!
I asked an eagle man about the eagles' behaviour of this afternoon. He thought that there might have been an intruder - unfriendly behaviour.
Maybe Renno will appear and give us his views - hopefully -

First eagle on nest I saw 6:30, in almost darkness.
About 7:30 there was male eagle (or intruder?) on nest. After he left nest, somewhere nearby were voices, similar to yesterday ones, if (probably) intruder appear in nest.
I don't know, but maybe the weather affects on activity of our eagle pair....

I think it was the male and not the intruder. He was sitting on the branch for ten minutes before fight and the face of the eagle looks the same (see pics). They had probably little disagreement, probably both like to lay on the nest as we have seen days before.Jo UK wrote:LOL - what fun we have!

11:50, I have never seen anything like this - fresh snow, but the eagle is sitting on the nest - is she guarding an egg ?
