Anna fed the chicks...E1 was well fed, E2 got also but our little E3 didn't get food. Bigger chicks didn't give to it the chance.

A little bit later, after this video...more and more falls down the snow from the sky...So sad to see... :slap:

I live from this place 125 km farther and here is not Christmas...all is green.

Anna is enjoying a lovely Estonian spring weather. Chicks are well covered.
It will get better before midnight since this snowfall will land to Finland later tonight.

Yes, it is sad. I haven't expected - when snowfall started - that it would be so much.
Poor Anna. She stays brave down on her little ones.

Thank you for the video of the feeding, Mutikluti. It's a pity that of all things E3 has got nothing. It is hours ago, that s/he has got something.

Yes, unfortunately, I thought so. But I hoped that I was late for the feeding E3

Anna looks very focused on passive heating chick - she doesn't move, doesn't lose energy.
Amazing is the instinct of wild animals, yesterday parents let chicks bask in the sun and now quick feeding, not to cool down the chicks - and no one learn her how to take care of little eaglets :chick:

19:53 Anna was attentive to the left side for a moment ...

But no, there was nothing important. Back to breeding ... Poor Anna. I feel pity for her.

I think, that there is nothing new for Anna, because WTE don´t migrate to south and stay here in the winter too.

Maybe she didn't do that because this snow cover works like an additional warming blanket?

You must be right, Janne+ais. Her feathers are waterproof, so it is an additional layer of insulation.

I thought they're her first chicks
snow for her is normal and nothing new but her kids are too small to stay too long in that cold and wet weather, especially hungry E3

But wouldn't adult WTEs' normally protect themselves in such weather and fly to a more sheltered place? On the nest Anna has no chance to do this. She is forced to stay.

Maybe the snow is not the worst, it's that the feathers of the chicks get wet.
Wet feathers do not hold their body warmth...??

It could be colder without any snow fall, but the dry frosty weather would not be dangerous as long as their feathers are dry and parents are warming them..??

I don't know.

(Now it's snowing here too, in Southern Finland..)

20:22 Anna was getting up a little bit and I wondered about it. Maybe the chicks are already too big to cover them completely? :puzzled:
But no, there came a little poop shot out under Annas belly. She must have noticed it and lifts her belly a little. :D

First a little restlessness among the chicks, Anna is getting up.
Image

I couldn't catch the poop shot, but here is still the little bottom of the chick to see. :D
Image

Edit:
Now I see, Mutikluti, you catched the moment. Great shot! :D

In Tallinn we have rain, but not a snow +2*
Then God said: “Let the waters swarm with living creatures,* and let flying creatures fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.”*.....And God saw that it was good.

I'm also worried about the S. During the day I saw the 2 eating well, but he was always down and not near parent.

There is so much food on nest and sometimes her decisions are very strange.
I watch the Israeli Buzzards with 4 chicks in a small rocky nest. They had enough food and she managed to feed all of them all the time. Now they are 3-4 weeks old and look almost big as parents...

20:49:57 Anna was up for two minutes. But she did not feed, she only digged the nest bowl a little.
She sat down on the chicks immediately.
