Blackeye or Mustsilm could be a nickname for a pirate.

"Piraat" is definitely not a name. If someone says "piraat" I will not think of a female, but a male person.laranjeiras wrote: what about 'piraat'? i looked it up - Estonian for pirate. is it a 'feminine' name?

Lumi is a new, modern female name in Finland and we have many little girls by name Lumi. Lumi is Estonian word too (as in Finnish lumi means snow).Triin wrote:
Lumi "feels" as a female name in Estonian and has been used as such. Pruuni (or Pru) dosen't "feel" like a name in Estonian.

i'm updating the list of proposed names. i am doing it exercising my "dictator right" as the moderator in this topic. that means that i have removed some proposed names which i consider invalid as non-Estonian. i have also limited the variants of some names to only one. different variants of basically one name would scatter votes and diminish the chances of that name.
i also excluded the name Estonia because it is very-very rare that a name of a country would be used as a name for an individual live being. at least i haven't heard of such. besides we have a lot of real, nice, proper names to choose from.
here's the list of proposals so far:
Pruuni from Estonian word pruun meaning brown.
Suvi which means summer in Estonian.
Susanna (motivation for this name is Thunbergia alata, commonly called Black-eyed Susan vine; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunbergia_alata )
Piia
Mari
Helga
Esta
Esti
Eva
Siiri
Iiris (iris is the coloured ring around the pupil in the eye)
Lumi which means snow in Estonian.
Bella
Leila
Merit
Triin
Tiiu
Egle
Juta
Hazel
did i forget a suggestion?
Hazel i forgot but now it is added.
remember that you still have time to midnight tonight to propose a name!
edit: i have been advised by an Estonian authority that Atropiin and Cleopatra cannot be considered Eatonian names. therefore i have removed them from the list above.
thank you!
