Quick summary of some facts:
Gender could not be determined, but Urmas thought it was the same for both.
Rings:
Older / bigger 712L and A10139,
"Smaller" 712M and A10140 (right leg).

Wing length "bigger" / older 310, beak 105 mm
Wung length "smaller" 320 mm, beak 105, same as other.
There was a little discussion about bigger/smaller, "bigger" seemed to have more feathers
Hope I have got it right but there will be lots of videos to check again from!
Urmas thought the storklets were on the whole very calm and co-operative.
He also took some time for "window-cleaning", i.e. polishing the lens that had been sitting in place all winter.

now i watched again the ringing video and heard better what Urmas was saying. first he ringed the older storklet ("vaneb" he said; i don't know how he was able to see the differnce). it got on the left the big ring 712L and on the right ("paremb jalg") ring with number 10139 and maybe with letter H in front of the number. i'm not sure if i heard/understood right but i think i heard him saying "haa" as H like in German, or was it A? then he measured the wing ("tiib"): 310 he said (millimeters obviously) and the beak ("nokk") was 105 (mm).

then he ringed and measured the smaller ("väiksem poeg"). it got ring 712M and 10140 (preceded by H or A again). this chick turned out to have longer wing: 320 mm than the 'older'. beak length was the same as the first storklet's. -i could not hear Urmas say anything about their sexes.
in the end he was still looking for the third egg but it is not there. vanished.

now i see that Liis got the same figures there just before me. :D

after ringing Urmas cleaned the objective for a long time before he was happy with it.

then Urmas collected his tools and picked up his camera. if he gave some fish to the storklets in between they were eaten really fast. i could not see any fish. :slap:
"say cheese!" :D

i think that can be agreed on because Urmas was not able to say anything of their sexes. that is a very nice coincidence, L for Liina and M for Miiko.

thank you Urmas and Renno for your nice job today!

Liina and Miiko are resting now side by side in the sun. :innocent:

Molly, a lovely gif!

Ame and Liis, thank you for the summary :2thumbsup:

13:54 - Liina and Miiko are looking at butterflies, same as their sibling did previous years:)
Image
13:56 - Being ringed can be very exhausting, the storklets are having a quiet afternoon. They behaved very well on todays event

I'm so glad to see that Tiina and Tiit has been home afterwards, a perfect timing, and successful ringing. Well done, Urmas!

i'm sorting my last videos.
11:58 Urmas started to climb down and there were first some alarming crashes.

after Urmas had left the poplar admiral (the butterfly) came to check the new rings. it stayed really long with the storklets, at least till 12:26. all three of them didn't much move for 20 minutes. 8-)

at about 12:29 Liina and Miiko began to wake up slowly from their trance and move a little very carefully.

the other was up but both were hiding their rings so i could not see which.
Image

now it seems that they rested enough and it's time for some preening.
Image

balance seems to be an issue here, too, a little wobbly. :whistling:

Thanks Liis and ame for shedding some light and numbers and figures!
It's nice that ring numbers are chosen according to names!

A parent on a short visit - what a joy for Liina and Miiko!!

I guess the chicks got something to eat ...

:loveshower:

Liina and Miiko started to rejoice a little earlier than the parent showed up
- does it mean that the chicks sense the approaching parent - or that the parents are somewhere in immediate closeness and come as soon as the chicks call?

Do you see the difference between the two's coulouring - does Liina have a little more black feathers than Miiko?

The parent was standing for a while on the left branch. But I guess they can see when they approach. The begging usually starts already before the parent lands on the nest.
