Today we have got to know that Black Storks have returned to Portugal. Garina do mar from Portugal told the news. That is why I'll put a youtube link here, Portuguese Music, singer Dulce Pontes, Cancao do Mar.

Black storkes arrival in Portugal :headroll:
And one video that was made last year when a young blackstork in her flying trials decided to visit the gyps vulture nest :D
Their nest was just underneath this one so it is not visible.

The link is ok. It´s from the portuguese Foundation for Scientific Computing and official broad band provider.

Other videos from gyps vultures are here: http://www.zappiens.pt/lista_videos.php?id=45

Black Storks are now really migrating back to their 'homes'! I found a news from India:

Black Storks from Africa spotted in Dandeli
18 Feb 2009, 2203 hrs IST, TNN

KARWAR: Rare birds from the African continent arrived near Dandeli two days ago, including the Black Stork. These birds settled near a dry lake on the outskirts of Dandeli.

Manjunath Ritti, an ornithologist, spotted around seven Black Storks on a tree on the Dandeli-Ambikanagar Road and photographed the new visitors.

Environmentalist Shashidhar said that these birds, which usually migrate to Kutch near Gujarat from Africa, during the months of November and December every year, settle there for around 15 days before heading home via Sri Lanka. But for the last two years, these birds have been migrating to Dandeli.

Thank you Urmas :bounce:

I found some information Raivo, one of the famous Estonian satellite Black Storks.
http://www.kotkas.ee/ENG/strack_blackstork.html
Black stork Raivo

We caught Raivo from the area of the Paasvere forest district in Lääne-Virumaa on the early morning of 22 July. He was nesting in an artificial nest, i.e. we built one artificial nest near a broken nest in 1991 and only in 2006 it was inhabited by black storks. Watching pictures with our Latvian colleagues, we came to the conclusion that he should be more than ten years old – this is indicated by the greyish head. The eaglets of Raivo were by the time their father got the backpack more or less able to fly; therefore, Raivo started flying towards the south on 28 July. He flew to Belarus where he stayed for some days and the following trip took him across the Dardanelles and Turkey to Israel. The fish ponds in Israel are a good migration stopover for Eastern European black storks. Some of them stay there for the whole winter; the black stork ringed in Estonia has also wintered in Israel during several years.

In the Portuguese SowthWest Coast, in a place called Cabo Sardão, there are a group of storks that come every year and make the nest on the rocks. This couple is one of the first ones (I saw there another one, I'll try to post their pictures tomorrow). The pictures were taken on the 7th February this year :headroll:
