Fortunately, the storklets had been fed 20 minutes before ringing.

Let`s hope Tiina or Tiit will soon come with fresh food - this would surely help them forget the whole thing :whistling:

From what I remember from last year and the article that was posted afterwards, I think they wait until one parent has gone after feeding, so they have some time before the next feeding will take place! I also heard the feeding before, and thought oh good, they have some time then!

No fish after ringing this time? :puzzled:

This year the storklets are a week older and their beaks are stronger.

Back from the nest.

Juveniles got on the left leg white rings 708T (wing legth 34 cm), 708R (wing 36,5cm) and 708U (wing 35cm). In the right leg there is aluminium rings A10155-57 respectively. They were lot of pecking/beating and somehow 708R injured his bill few cm from the tip - there was scratch visible and some blood on the bill. I didn´t detect it but probably he hit something (me, nippers, climbers) too strongly. I am really sorry for causing this injury while ringing but hopefully it will heal quickly.

I will be out in next days therefore please follow how 708R is acting during feeding (eat with no trouble, will get enough food etc).

Yes, they were not playing dead, they struggled a lot, Renno! So it was the storklet and not you, but we will keep an eye on him/her, that's for sure!

Heard one feeding, came to late, but the second followed immediately and I saw all of them grabbing for food and eat!

Bea and Felis, I just read Renno's explanation and I see that both of you were right, and I was wrong!

I do believe that it is only a minor injury.

I hope since the storklet was eating like the others, it is only a small thing and will heal! We just keep an eye on him/her and see what is happening!
I have added a few pictures after I finally got to upload them.

They must be exhausted after this exciting day! :peek:
