Here is the video about the last feeding and Lenny.

I am not an export, but I can see, that this bird is ill :(
And as I see it may has also some problems with eating.
Somebody has to call Urmas to see your pictures and the video, and make a decision.

I agree with you marco. Urmas or Renno knows better it is a dangerous condition or not.

21:46 - A storklet is preening, and feathers are stuck to his beak. Is it Lenny with the damaged beak?

What heppened with Lenny's beak?

After Lucy had doubts, that Renny was injured during the ringing, I investigated the problem all the afternoon. Now I think that Lucy may have been right. After Renno left the nest a ring from metal or something like that was in the nest. This metal thing injured poor Lenny's beak. Lenny tried to eat it three times and swallowed it in the end.

First attempt.

Second attempt,

and the critical moment.

Thank you for the information Macko.
I think somebody has to tell it to Urmas, or send an urgent SMS or email to Renno and Urmas.
I can't call him :(

Thanks to everyone for bringing this to attention.
So Urmas and Renno have been notified? I sent e-mail to Urmas - he usually contacts others very quickly, when there is need.

I tried to phone, too, but must have had the wrong number. At 23.45 in Estonia, a lady was so kind to forgive my mistake, in English, too!

Thank you very much Macko50 for your photographs with swallowing.
But,
- Nestlings don't swallow hard items. During ringing the nestlings usually regurgitate some food, so after ringing there is always something to be eaten on the nest bottom. If it was swallowed, it was edible.
- During ringing ringers use only metal and plastic rings, nothing more. It is impossible that Renno left a metal ring (ring with the number) on the nest. Rings with number are strictly registered, so he couldn’t simply lost it. Other things are not used during ringing, so I think it was something which could be swallowed.

Best wishes,
Piotr Zielinski

Been watching the Black Storks for 2 years. Love them, beautiful birds. I noticed a few minutes ago about the beak on the one baby. It looks split. Will someone help him?
