As I see the second picture it is exactly a ring, but not the same which used by ringing, and after when Renny picked up it was visible the blood on it's beak. It must be a hard thing, because it injured it's beak, and Lenny swallowed this hard thing, as you can see on the video.
You are an expert, and I believe you, and apologize for my mistake, but I wanted the best for Renny.

Dear George,Dear Piotr,
I didn't say that Renno left something in the nest. I sad there was a metal ring or something like that in the nest,
..
Best regards,
George
Thank you very much once more for your photographs. Your detailed work allow us to discuss different scenarios. We don't know exactly what was swallowed but it is always better to exchange different views. I still hope you are wrong (you hope the same), and the item was not a metal (hard) ring.
Best wishes,
Piotr Zielinski

I was away for weekend and found now that a bad story about 708R...
Can't get connected with Renno at the moment, but hope he will recall me in first possibility. My plan is to take that chick as soon as possible and treat it in Vet Clinic (there is quite well competence developed for wild birds during last couple of years).
Will let you know about news, if only can!
Thank you all for information shared in forum!

Urmas, thank you for relieving our worries.
Now we know that the chick will get the best attention, as soon as possible.

Various silly ideas come to my mind, I'm sorry. But I have to ask this question: Urmas or Piotr, is it - theoretically - possible that the stork could swallow for example a metal-bait used for fishing together with the fish? - something like this: http://www.allegaleria.pl/images/w4tkh8 ... 8t5bag.jpg . Have you met with such an unfortunate case in your (or your colleagues) work?

A year of two ago somebody placed the article about the stork who lost the half of his beak and vets made an him artificial one. Let us hope Lenny will recover too.
About the names: I noticed that the blackest storklet wasn't the largest one. Maybe I was mistaken, I don't
know.
Upd: I found the link to this article!

Lenny (or 708R) really seems to have an injury in its beak on the right side: the right "jaw" seems to be broken.

thank you Urmas for getting some help to the poor bird!
EDIT: the Bucket is extremely slow these days.... here's at last a bigger picture.

There was a feeding. Absolutely sure that Lenny has a big problems with swallowing. He can not swallow so quickly than its siblings. So finally he got only one or two fish may be.

And the upper and the lower parts of it's beak don't overlap exactly, and Renny isn't so clever picking up a fish.katsik wrote:There was a feeding.
