Morning to all!
I supposed they were girls.(although google translator is the terror that flaps in the night) That is why Woodek was bigger than these storklets.
A question to Urmas: how in 2008 did you manage to find the transmitter of Mid? If I am not mistaken, it was not working and even smashed by a tractor.

Tali remains Tali, Uno and Usin may become Una and Usinia but does it matter?

Magnificent news! Thank you, Katrin, for making the DNA test!
Urmas writes on the front page of Looduskalender that there are less female BS than male BS in Estonia so Kati and Karl "made" a great clutch. Some more important thoughts from this summary I'd like to share before the official translation is ready - expectations that the three storklets will survive are quite good and almost a half of the necessary sum has gathered (the new transmitters are much smaller than the one Karl has).
I can't wait till next spring, what about you?

I think so, the girls can be recognized by the rings. I do not like "Paul" laying eggs.

There was question about transmitter of Mid (2008). We found it together with Belorussian colleague Valery Dombrovski in arable field few hundreds of meters of possible electrocution place of Mid. Transmitter was almost in the surface, but small end of antenna of attached radio transmitter was out of ground. Batteries were empty, but after charging it started to work and was used next year for another bird.
There is no need to change the names - storks do not care about that!
2006 if we had Black Stork Jaak tagged year before... he was filmed for TV broadcast just after return to the nest in spring and happened to be in wrong position during the copulation. Lot of discussion was raised and Black Storks became popular wild animal to speak about everywhere.

What a surprise! Three girls!
(I really thought Uno was a male... )
Karl and Kati only 'make' girls, apparently. Great!
Thanks for the info, Juta and Urmas! I love the story of Jaak.

This is a very good news we have been waiting for a long time.
Tali and Usin are very good names, Uno like number 1 in Italian.
I'm looking forward to a great new season and spring....

Una also is like number one but for a female in Spanish and Italian. So let Uno becomes Una.Lea T wrote:This is a very good news we have been waiting for a long time.

The unresolved power struggle between Uno and Tali, Tali was bitchy, etc. Uno is very social...baska wrote:

If you remember ringing Una was "a calm storklet" and Tali "an angry one".
