Black Stork nest web cam
2007
The history of Black Stork web camera in Jõgevamaa, goes back to 2007.
The nest is on the top of one of the oldest aspen trees in the forest.
In the evening of April the 15th, 2007 a Black Stork couple was seen on the nest.
Male BS was Tooni, a 5 year old bird with rings and transmitter. His partner was not ringed, so Kotkaklubi asked people to give her name and so she got her name Donna.
The family life of Tooni and Donna was successful – 4 eggs, 4 chicks hatched and 3 young storks fledged the nest in Autumn.

Regrettably Tooni perished on his winter migration near the Israel – Lebanon border, in the end of October.

2008
On the 1st of April 2008 Donna arrived to the nest.
Two days later a male stork was seen on the nest, Donna seemed to like him at once and they started to build and repair the nest and also started their family life.
Male stork was ringed, so it turned out that the boyfriend is a local—from the western parts of Harjumaa, born near Padise in 2001.
After discussing a lot of names the cam watchers offered, he got the name Padis.
Donna and Padis raised 3 young Black Storks – Miss Big, Miss Mid and Miss Little.

Miss Mid got the transmitter to follow the life of juvenile storks but again misfortune came along. She lost her life in Belarussia, probably on August the 30th.

A brief summary of the 2009 season
It is not quite right to call is a Nesting Season!
On April 5th, a Black Stork came to the nest, causing much excitement among forum members. At first we thought it was Donna, but no - it was a stranger who stayed only 8 minutes..
After a lot of comparisons with other pictures, it was decided that the stranger was a beautiful male, so far unknown to us, and he was named Toomas.
Toomas continued to visit the nest for short periods, never staying overnight, nor doing nest works.
Then, on April 17th, Padis arrived.
He was truly at home and knew exactly what to do - he repaired the nest and built it up, ready for his mate. Everyone recognised him by the ring on his left leg, and the bald patch on his head!
About the "bald patch" - see bociany's post viewtopic.php?p=33509#p33509.

Padis continued to work hard at building the nest, but he remained alone that season.
On April 30th, he left.
