It looks like the chick has hatched 9 minutes ago but Karl hasn't remove the eggshell and sat down on it.

For me it was very interesting, that it has made begging calls. I never heard it before in this stage. The poor lampreys and frogs.. here comes a eater :whistling:

I've never heard that before, either. But Karl said that his chicks are begging before they are out of their egg, you know, in his book. :laugh:

The little one was begging. But it doesn't need food at the moment. Parent do it, if they hear the begging call.
