It looks like the chick has hatched 9 minutes ago but Karl hasn't remove the eggshell and sat down on it.

For me it was very interesting, that it has made begging calls. I never heard it before in this stage. The poor lampreys and frogs.. here comes a eater

Wow!
I've never heard that before, either. But Karl said that his chicks are begging before they are out of their egg, you know, in his book.
And know I need to do something very urgent.

17:15 Karl moves one egg to give the little one a little more space
The little one is begging again!
17:15:04 Karl removes the empty eggshell
17:42 The little one already lifted his head (a little)! And is again begging for food.
Karl, could you please remove the branches that are in front of the cam?

I would very much appreciate if the YouTube link to the cam would be found on the front page of this thread - the YouTube link there is not valid any more ...

Karl is here and the little chick is already trying to lift its head. I really do love the sound the Black Stork chicks make.

First feeding. I don't think little chick is up to this already, Karl.
At the left a bunch of tiny Eels or something....

The little one was begging. But it doesn't need food at the moment. Parent do it, if they hear the begging call.
