:bounce: Congratulations Koit and Eha! Now we could sing in chorus one of the most popular songs of Estonians by name KOIT - to honour the Estonian Lesser Spotted Eagles' first egg: 'Koit'! I thought that Koit is a suitable name for an eagle. The word means 'dawn'! A new dawn to the birth of an Eagle, bird of freedom, has begun with the first egg..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUCYcCbo ... re=related

the second verse:
On koit, kuninglik loit,
(It's dawn, a majestic blaze)
valguse võit äratab maa.
(Victory of the light awakes the land)
Prii on taevapiir, esimene kiir
(Free is the horizon, and the first ray)
langemas on maale.
(Will soon touch the land)

Please, if only we could forget the artificial 'dirty' as if meaning that begins with the letter c, it is wholly an invented, a biased meaning! Sorryy..The c-word has nothing to do with dawn., pliiizzz.. But if somebody can't use that name, so.. :dunno: nothing to say.. I don't want to begin a new 'thing'-discussion, but if I don't remember wrong, the name Koit was proposed by U!

Hallo Renandeli!
I am totally agree with you about the name Koit. In Estonia it is usual male name, we use this word in everyday life and NEVER get any connection with that other word.

By the way, I googled and found that in California there is one radio station has name KOIT. How those people take that?

Juta, hi! I don't believe people actually has anything against that word, - if one just think a while.. It's an Estonian word  . *Foreign* words can make funny assosiations, and sometimes one feels temptation to say something aloud..although it is not so important..

We too have the same word in Finnish, nearly the same (our languages has been one and same language for about one thousand years ago!). We have the word 'koi' and 'koitto', actually same words, and the meaning is dawn too! Aamun koi - or koitto = dawn of the morning. It is an usual word and it is used when ever.. But we use only the form 'koitto' as surname, not first name.. as far I know. (don't know if koitto has been used as first name too. I would not wonder if it has been used as first name, be cause in former times most of our people didn't have 'surnames' (+patronymes)at all. In any case, the word koit (koi and koitto)in F.) is an very old word in the vocabularies, of Estonian and of Finnish, more than one thousand years old, propably more than two thousands..

I well remember the 'KOIT song' . I found it spoke to my very soul.
It was translated on the Estonian National Day' by Kuremari.on that day .It is to be seen in 'Conversations' and is still there. :D It is a song very dear to all Estonians.
It means SO,SO MUCH. There is no arguing that.

The egg is in a shade, even the Sun does not warm it.
12:38 Hea arrived! :shake:

She is until approximately 15-25 minutes distant. The male calls it possibly to dine? :puzzled:

And she took off 12.14, so 24 minutes away

:puzzled: Dont know spotted eagles behaviour yet, white-tailed eagles didn´t let the egg alone so long.
