yep, that is EXACTLY what I thought! He(?) was a little annoyed when Eha gulped down so much of the meal.

EHa has been fighting with this green branch - I missed seeing how it came in but she is tossing it to all corners and finally tucks it in around herself and Spot.

But then she started thrashing it about, again.

In Sweden that kind of eagle is called "Lesser scream-eagle". I wonder why :rotf:

Spot is growing very fast and he is so activ. I hope he is a good entertainer like Sulli and Kluti.

I guess she decided she had subdued that bit of greenery, as she flew off the nest for less than a minute (and while she was gone Spot looked all about) and returned with some new green stuff.

Well the way he looked about while Eha was gone made me laugh, so he seems to be doing his job. Actually I think Spot is a girl.

Koit made another delivery. It looked very much like the 9:06 one -- a water vole/giant mouse/small weasel. They both seemed to have lighter tummies than backs.

watching live webcams and watching Disney Nature movies isn't the same...
DreamWorks Shrek movie was much worse for the bird but as a rule nobody remembers that the bird was killed and her eggs fried.

alice i agree with you, i think that Spot is a girl
I looked for some information about LSE sex ratio. The question is – do we have ‚good’ year or ‚poor’ year? :whistling:

Google says: /.../ LSE sex ratio was female-biased in good years and male-biased in poor years, but did not differ from parity in the long term. /.../

/.../ When the cost of rearing the sexes differs, the offspring of more beneficial sex will be produced in a higher proportion. However, a growing number of studies report deviations from this prediction. Biases in LSE sex ratio depend on environmental conditions, particularly food availability/.../

There is an interesting study about that:
Ülo Väli - Sex ratio of Lesser Spotted Eagle Aquila pomarina nestlings in good and poor breeding years.

Olev, please check you PM inbox.
Forum members have decided not to discuss the death of Spot 2 further. It was upsetting for many.

And Olev people posted videos so I think you should be able get most of the details.

Eha is pretty funny the way she goes at those branches. A fence is a good explanation.
