I dont know, but I wondered it too. It wasn't first time, at least once I have seen the egg alone about half an hour earlier too

Edit: and they even don't hide the egg, I guess one of them must be near the nest all time
:help:

Reminds me the Black Stork nest last year - the eggs were left alone for an hour and a half, and as we learned later, nothing bad happened to them.

You mean this link http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/250

Yep I agree no need to worry. Only wondering (compared with sea-eagles) and learning

eta: the "help" smiley wasn't the best choice

Yes, thanks for reminding about that, visitor!
I think it depends from the weather (temperature) also - for how long they can leave eggs 'alone' i mean.

:hi: vaino, I was just lucky to catch her getting up ... she is usually on the nest asleep when I take a peek. She seems to be incubating seriously ...

Wonderful news - thanks, bociany. I am doing my morning round of the webcams and here are two eggs now.

So is it 33-35 days incubation before they hatch?

Now we are going to have two broods of eagle chicks to watch, as well as keeping Padis company.
