Alice -
The greenery has gone brown and it is very wet.
Tuuli does seem to go into a kind of relaxed trance. I bet it is a method for using less energy.
Jopie - 3rd frog, hurray for Remo
Bubo - Hello!
I think today Tuuli will eat more frogs
Now it's sunny

He is smaller but he is flying more. He must eat about as much as he delivers, maybe more on bad days and less on good days.Bea wrote:One more frog for Tuuli, late evening meal So it is 10 preys until now ...
I´d like to know how much prey Remo is eating over the day .....

Felis silvestris - Tuuli came back, also with some new decorations:
Remo hears Tuuli calling
Tuuli arrives
The grass is very long and difficult to "handle" (should it be "beakle"?)
Remo leaves and Tuuli starts to tidy the place.
End summary May 18.

Latvian LSE
A little confusion when the webcam got stuck on replay, this morning!
Lussi05 - Macho had an early morning visit with Mētra
( A few minutes later he came again, but I got the impression that it was his last visit that was played over again and as I wright this it happens again..and again..and again..the reason I wonder is that the camera stops at precisely same place every time, they have exactly the same reactions and I get exactly the same pictures )
I managed to take a picture a little bit earlier- and IT WAS FOOD
Bleggi -
He is always coming near the nest then first hiding and after that coming again - looking around and then to his wife
There was more activity than usual on this nest. More food deliveries - but it is not easy to see them. It seems that there are more mammals than frogs delivered to the Latvian nest. At the Estonian nest there are more deliveries which are viewable and of those the majority is of frogs, with a small number of mammals.
Lussi05
I have to admit that I took a closer look at the eggs, but the first egg came at the same time as Tuuli`s so it is a bit early. I agree with Felis, there was definetely another eagle calling, and she kept on looking up and around all evening.
She also had this defending/angry attitude at some point, and I think that indicates that someone else was nearby?? I wonder - she has changed partner, and that must have been after she laid eggs, could it be that Madis ( her first partner) is around? Someone who know how these things works?
Defending/angry ( I think)

Estonian LSE
Kitty KCMO
This cam always has really beautiful bird song. It's a shame Eha & Koit rejected this nest for another. We will lose this cam to use at the new BS nest, but I guess that is a good thing, as the cam there never comes on until mid-afternoon or so. And we do want to see the progress in brooding the eggs, & the hatching process!
May 21st, 10:02
If you listen closely, I think you can hear the LSEs calling in the distance at about 52 seconds into the recording.
------------------------------
There seems no point in continuing to include this nest in the LSE summary UNLESS something noteworthy occurs
(It will, now that I have written that!)

The bird seemed to be lighter in colour (not only because of the sun), then on the left a face came and the bird on the nest took off straight to top (in the third picture you can see on the upper right side) and I think Mētra came in from the right

Mētra has spend a very qiuet evening in the nest. I have not heard any calling tonight or seen any other bird.
The birds have started their evening consert, with the Cuckoos playing solo sometimes.
Good night Mētra & good night everybody

There is a pice cone in the nest now!
Lussi's post - Mētra in the morning:
Looks like she have something in her beak here, I don`t now what. I did not see any food delivery
Felis silvestris -
Food came for Mētra, though I could not see what it was
because I was just looking through the pictures to see if I got nice ones of both:
This is Macho:
This is Mētra:
In this couple it is Macho who is the lighter one, even lighter than Tuuli.

Felis silvestris -
I don't know what is the normal amount of frogs and other prey to be brought. Compared with the other nest, it is, as far as we have been able to see, much more. But I guess our observations do help to find that out. Besides, I am sure that if one of the birds would really get too hungry, she would leave the nest and hunt for herself before starving! Another thing is, I think an animal in the wild will very well be able to go through a day or even more without food. Hunting is not always successful. Remo also has good or bad days, more success or less, and he has to eat as well.
About noon, aother disturbance -
Jopie -
Now, this is very angry
She makes also a throat sound, first time I heard that.
Today 25th day of incubation, it is going fast
I'm closing now; Remo did not visit much today:
Sunday May 22nd: total of 4 prey's of which were 2 frogs, 1 mammal (rather chubby mouse/vole) and 1 UBA.
Have a nice evening everybody
End summary May 22.
