Remo seems to be taking a day off and Steph became hungry enough to give a real try on the mole. finally Stephi is making real progress with it.

hunger makes the less appealing food look more desirable. works with eaglets as well with cats.

not as a whole. it could be head and shoulders.
she's been working with it since 16.55. at one point when she tried to swallow it the first time but did not manage i'm almost certain that she was swearing.
edit: i'll add here a clip which i made of the first swallowing attempt. it was indeed the head-and-shoulders-part of the mole which Stephi was trying to swallow: one can see the big front paw of the mole in the corner of Stephi's beak. and it was definately a mission impossible at this stage. :slap:
and i'm even more convinced that she was swearing.

this is really a hard piece of food. :slap:

I heard strange noises and found it had to come from this cam. The mole still refuses to go down! :slap:

YES!! now it went down. :2thumbsup:
this clip is from the last video in the series below.
that was a 55 minutes of really hard work. if it was the same mole which was there for days it didn't seem to get very tender. :rotf:

edit: i'll add here a list of links to the videos i recorded during the whole process.

I have sent the pictures of the attacker to somebody who also knows a lot about birds and got back the answer, that it is a goshawk, unsure if female or male, as for the size and the size of the claws.

I don't see it anymore, but have not looked for a moment. Stephi looks very pleased, did she eat it already?

Too dry maybe? The only frog today (or was it yesterday?) I saw at Miks' nest.
