Re: Estonian LSE Nest Discussion 2012 ~ Tuuli & Remo

Post by aita »

Stephi alone again. 13.36 Tuuli back.
Felis silvestris.
I watched the video and it seemed to me that this bird is very much like Remo, especially in the movement. He was smaller and darker Tuuli. Looked on the video, they talk to each other. Perhaps Tuuli was asleep and was frightened when Remo flew nest. The first reaction woke up was the defense position.
I guess I heard a distant call of buzzard sometimes. Last year, somebody heard European Honey-Buzzard Pernis apivorus. Was it here?
Bea-
Is the name in Estonia with an "h" or without .....? I think we should call it the "Estonian way"
We estonians are very tolerant names. (Because...?) only one and a half million people living in Estonia, but almost 100 nations.

That's what puzzles me - not having seen Tuuli's first reaction I would just have presumed a late visit by Remo! And I have seen both, Koit and Remo visit the nest in almost darkness before without such a reaction by the female in the nest :puzzled:
Maybe it is like you wrote and Tuuli was just surprised!

Bea, I also spent most of the day in bed - I think with sort of a body cold. Woke up with hurting all over and it did not get better having a hot shower and moving around. First nice day since what seems an eternity and I spent it in bed
Gute Besserung!

Saturday 16 June

I hope you both wake up feeling better. Friday was our first summerlike day in weeks and weeks, perfectly wonderful. I hear it is meant to return to rainy by Monday, but I hope we all get a nice weekend. I have so much gardening to do.

Tuuli and Stephi were up.

Tuuli returned about 6:05 (cam froze up on me so I am not sure when)

Tuuli took off again -- I think she was following Remo's calls.

Tuuli seems to be attacking a huge prey -- maybe a mole that has been in the nest a while?
