One of the lesser spotted eagles is in the nest doing a little work & seeking for its mate. I don't know how to tell which LSE is which, as I did not get to see them last year.

The male and females are not easy to tell apart.

I think the screamers are females -- and I would guess a bird testing the nest would be a female. The females are a bit bigger, but I cannot tell unless they are together. I think a bit like buzzards and Red Tailed Hawks, some are lighter and some darker, but it is not related to gender. They may not have quite as much variation, but I think one of the males last year was very light, while the other was a bit darker than his mate.

Yes, I remember the Latvian male was very light compared to the female. Maybe when someone who knows them from before posts pictures of these two together, I'll pick up some clues as to which is which.

For the first time I saw both birds at the nest:

And one of them, I think the male, has already brought a frog to the nest !!!

there was a second one on the nest and for a short moment even both

I try to post from home in the evening, I have both, but single

Male arrived with a big twig

Then he made several bows to her and then mating again :loveshower:

What a nice behaviour - first he is bringing a frog or a twig, then making bows to her and then they are mating :D
