Or is it Metra :puzzled:

Lussi05 :hi: I thought it was Metra (because of the colours). But otherwise it looks a bit like Miks.

Now I hear Miks calling somewhere. :whistling:

Thank you for the clarifying picture Cable Guy, I definitely need glasses

Yes Starling :hi: I saw it when I looked a little closer. It would have been great if it was Miks though, but maybe a bit too early... :D

Metra has spent the night in the nest all alone the last two nights, but flys off to the left very early in the morning before it gets light enough to see her well. Miks was not with her. When is she going to start her migration? When she gets to Africa does she meet up with Macho or is her entire migration alone until next Spring?

Thank you for the link Cable Guy, so I can peek there, now and then

19:54/19:58 - Miks calls, and landed somewhere out of sight, or.... maybe he flew away?

I don't think they have yet put transmitters on mated pairs, but from what I understand from the articles, they all go their separate ways and even might go to different parts of Africa. But they live in kind of colonies, not as loners, like in Europe, as this paper tells: http://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/viewtopic.php?p=133629#p133629 - I had translated it last year in last year's Tuuli and Remo thread: http://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/viewtopic.php?p=114101#p114101

Felis, Thank you for the informative forum link. Very interesting. I know I have lots to learn about their behavior and I am eager to learn.
