The nest is no longer visible, but a nettle plantation  .

The nest was visited today by a very noisy group of blue jays, one even shortly landed on one of the upper branches in cam view.

Yes, the nest is empty now for the second season.

This morning, when I opened the cam, a red squirrel was quickly jumping over the nest. Too fast for me and unfortunately also for the Pontu cam.

Life is tough. The only "lucky" season in this nest for 8 years was in 2011, when nobody died. Others were either failed or with victims. But in the same 2011 tragedy happened in Latvian nest.

Had to search some pics of Stephi in the forum and looked through that topic... and had a weird thought "how good that now at least nobody is killed".

August 11th
Was there a fire? Or maybe it's just the drought, as the camera still works. Does somebody have any information?

Most likely the result of the very hot and dry weather in Estonia this summer ....

The hot weather in August was not good for the nettles, they are dried up and burnt, but it does not look like anybody came to visit the nest, except the occasional small bird I sometimes saw when I had the cam open.
Since it seems off as well since last week, on 6th at 17:52 the last Pontu picture was recorded:
http://193.40.124.24/2014-vilga-ftp/201 ... -17-52.jpg
I think we can close this chapter for this year. It was a sorry year, no LSE breeding at the camera nests at all, the nests in Latvia failing too. We leave with the hope that next year at least one of the nests is going online again and we may see an eaglet being raised there.
There are 5 LES by now on the Migration map, the latest pictures shows that they still fly around in Estonia. Have a save flight, and to the young eaglets fledged this year I wish tuult tiibadesse - fly safe!

On the personal side I can report that this summer in Estonia I saw my first alive and flying LSEs, one of the first was a hunting LSE right next to the road, catching a vole or mouse on the meadow and flying off with it. :D :headroll:

Padis's nettle is immortal. It was removed by Urmas, burnt by sun but is still growing, growing and growing.

My guess is that Tuuli and Remo changed the nest this year.

We removed both LSE cams form forest in 19th September.

Probably we will move cam of Tuuli and Remo to another nest, maybe other species. Not decided, yet.
