They are still incubating and guarding the nest. :cry:
The osprey experts say one pair incubated the eggs for 70 days before abandon.!
(sad)

edit Jan 2012 Lady's eggs were viable,they didn't hatch but experts say must be due to cold wet weather. Many nests failed in Scotland last season probably because of the bad weather.

A lovely film, Macdoum. It gave a good overview of Lady's history & now I understand better why it seemed such a big deal when she returned to the nest last season.

STOP PRESS : The Lady of The Lowes has returned to her nest for the 22nd year running;
From the SWT LOTL blog;
Wonderful news this morning at Loch of the Lowes, with another Osprey arrival at 8.31am. I was lucky enough to be on osprey watch shift in the lochisde hide at the time, and the bird flew in just 10 or so feet above my head and landed confidently on the nest.

Rushing inside to the HD camera controls , I was able to zoom in and get really good veiws of this birds plumage and eyes.

I am delighted to confirm that it does appear to be our faithful regular breeding female, affectionately know as ” Lady” by many folk, who has returned for her 22nd year at Loch of the Lowes.

She has lost no time in tidying her nest and using her favorite perch. We will be fascinated to watch what she does today!
So,we wait and see. :loveshower: .... :bow: :bow:

Happy viewing.

Thanks Macdoum for posting this news and the film - I was so curious whether she would make it yet another time. So impressive!

Today I read on the blog that a new mate has arrived, and that her previous hasn't been sighted yet. Also - egg laying time may be near!
