And to close the season a lovely tribute to all birds from The Loch of The Lowes ;

And the wind blows cool this morn.

Air moves with heat rising from earth and sea, in layers, in concentrations of different pressure areas, moist air, dry air. It is often during or after strong winds that migrant birds appear to us. Somehow, having partaken in this spectacle over my life, birds seem to “return” to earth. It feels as if they are not always connected to the world in which we reside. The strong connection to flight allows them to inhabit another “world”, somewhere other than our own. Perhaps this is one of the fascinations that we have for these beings.

“Our” young ospreys, I have commented, relished the wind before even being able to fly. They held out their wings to truely feel the resistance of feathers against the air. Once they were able to fly, they seemed most active on breezy skies. Avian migration is well under way with millions of feathers exploring “their” world.

Sail on. Rinchen.

Rinchen said it all,sail on feathered friends. :wave:

Lady osprey welcomed her partener 7Y who returned today to the Loch of the Lowes.
They mated several times and he brought the traditional gift of a fish later in the day :rolleyes:
7Y had also been seen preparing,digging in the nest.

It is now 40 days since the third egg was laid on the nest at LOTL in Scotland without a single hatch. :cry:
Is the Lady infertile or has the cold wet weather had an impact on the development of the eggs :puzzled: No one knows.
Its quite sad. Everyone is disappointed and 'they' say an osprey has been known to sit 70 days before giving up the incubation on failed eggs,thats sadder still. :cry:
Poor Lady,coming all that way from Africa....
Her mate 7Y has been great,building up the nest,bringing fish a sharing the incubation duties by about 25%
