 Great, Cessie! I just found another Montana nest where a chick died from dehydration and starvation last summer. Let's hope that one turns out better this year, too. That one is Pioneer Log Homes nest.
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

:slap: oh no! Someone sent me the link to the pioneer site today. Yes, I hope that it is a great year for all of the nests!
So true that too much heat can kill the chicks.
It is great that many of the Osprey nests, that we watch, are having Homecomings now! Males and females! :headroll:

Hal still isn't back at Dunrovin. Then of course we don't know who will arrive on the Estonian and Latvian nests. I hope it all goes well for all nests for a change. I think Monty's mate isn't back at Dyfy so far but I didn't check, yet. Too many nests. LOL

Ugh :puzzled: now I can’t remember correctly, but I thought that I read that DYFI had an egg. And that Hal was back. I believe you that Hal isn’t back. Chimega, did you watch Dunrovin when they had a fake goose on the nest? Lol!! I watched for a minute, late at night, and I thought that it was real!! :rotf: Then I was told that it was fake.
Teo is back, for sure I saw him, Tina not back yet at Latvia!! The cam is online on YouTube already.

Chimega, Monty arrived at dyfi, on April 4th. Glesni and Blue are also back. I checked the nestcam and no egg. So, I was wrong. Sorry.

Hi Cessie

Are you sure about Glensi? I just went back on Dyfi's page and they had posted this 11 hours ago.

Dyfi Osprey Project
11 hrs ·
Evening

More pair-bonding between Monty and Blue 3J today; two flounders and a mullet brought in, interspersed with mating and food soliciting.

Glesni is still not back, but fear not - a lot of birds are returning home late this spring. The Glaslyn boy White YA has just arrived back at his Kielder nest today - 12 days later than last year!

Now that second often-asked question this week as promised:

Q2. Blue 24 deserves a name, why don't you name her?

A2. Two main reasons: She's not ours to name and she isn't breeding with us.

What would happen if we named her and she went back to her native Rutland to breed? Yes, we name un-ringed birds such as Dai Dot, Scraggly, Seren etc, but this just makes it easier for us to refer to them.

Blue 24 has a leg ring so there's no desperate need to name her.

But here's what we'll do: If ever she did breed on the Dyfi nest, or indeed around the Dyfi area on a nest that is not managed by any organisation, we'll set up a poll and you can decide whether she is to be named or not. Do you think that's fair?

Meantime, Blue 24 is still at Llyn Clywedog with who we think is Dai Dot. Their resident female, Delyth (which is in fact Seren, same bird!), nor their male (Dylan) have returned yet, so some interesting times ahead for sure.

Here's a photo of Blue 24 (right) and Dai Dot on the Dyfi nest four years to the day ago almost, back in 2014. Talk about old flames 🔥🔥🔥❤️

Yes, I hope so, too. I haven't had time to check since yesterday because that new male at Durnovin and the human intruders at Hellgate have kept me too busy. lol

 Chimega, not nice at all to frighten nesting birds, or any bird. :slap:

Dyfi: Glesni’s imposter is still at the nest, she is named Blue3J, and she is who I thought was Glesni the other day.
No worries, Glesni will send her on her way, away…when she arrives…

 LOL, that Blue3J is a cousin of Glensi's, I believe. They look very much alike. I hope Glensi hurries! :D
