Today's DOP update on facebook:

Bore da

Just to let you know, the Live Streaming shuts down today after another successful season, but the Live Chat will continue for another month at least.

Keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks - we may have an osprey related Christmas stocking-filler or two for you, but don't tell anyone. It's a secret.

https://www.facebook.com/dyfiospreyproj ... =1&theater
Whatever it is, I'll put it on my christmas wish-list already

And other exciting news, not from the Dyfi itself but from the Glaslyn ospreys, a short distance from the Dyfi. One of the Glaslyn chicks of 2008, a male, has been confirmed breeding in the UK, and he raised two chicks this year: https://www.facebook.com/BywydGwylltGla ... n=timeline

A new blog today, this time written by Paul Wildlifewriter, and as always well worded and informative. It's about ospreys as indicator species, or sentinel species, for whole ecosystems:

Emr Evans says
I also wanted to explain about the first ever Dyfi Osprey Project calendar which will be produced in the next few days. We are making 1,000 of them and they will be available online and at Cors Dyfi Reserve an the MWT Welshpool office. I think that 'online' will be Ebay, but I will confirm this during the week. They will be available from the first week of November onwards.

The 2015 Dyfi Osprey Project calendar will feature photos from the 2014 season, so you will find some great images of Glesni, Gwynant and Deri in it, as well as Monty of course!

Re: Dyfi calendar, Emyr wrote.....
Emyr Evans
I have based the calendar on the CountryFile one - slightly larger than normal with thick Silk Art paper - quality stuff!
They sell theirs for £9.50 - this will be in that region too, possibly £10 but that will include free postage to UK addresses. CountryFile make 300,000 calendars so their cost price will be a tad lower than our Dyfi Osprey Project one, lol!
We'll post them worldwide too but have not checked the P&P rates overseas yet.
We'll make a thousand initially, but we can always make another print run if we look like running out!
That should be a lovely keepsake. Great photos assured. :D

More superb news from the Dyfi.

Emyr Evans' book about the ospreys in Wales is being printed as we speak, and can already be ordered too.

There's a special facebook page for all news about this book, questions, remarks etc etc: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ospreys- ... 43?fref=ts
Welcome everyone to this new page about a brand new book just about to be published. It chronicles the osprey's comeback and revival in Wales after centuries of persecution and destruction.

'Ospreys In Wales - The First Ten Years' will be ready by December 11th - you can read a lot more about it including how to order on this new website:

http://www.ospreysinwales.com

Meantime, please feel free to comment and ask ay questions here, I'll post regular updates on how we're doing with the printers. The book looks great, I'm really excited about this project - I think you will be too

Incredible! Live streaming is interrupted and damaged because of some criminals who broke into the DOP office and visitor centre and caused thousands of pounds worth of damage. They destroyed the electronic equipment and smashed and devastated nearly everything. That is so awful. Staff is trying to re-start the cameras as soon as possible.
