So sad!!! Ceri lost her battle for life!

This is written in Facebook :

Image

At just before midnight young Ceri lost her battle for life.
She was standing tall facing the wind for much of the evening and appeared to be getting stronger when she suddenly seemed to make a turn, raised her tail in the air and stopped breathing. It was three days to the minute almost from when she fell off the larch perch.
We'll have to wait and see what will happen to Ceri's body - Glesni will probably remove it eventually once the filial bond between them breaks down. We've seen chicks die in the nest before in the 13 years since ospreys have again started to breed in Wales, but it does not get any easier. In fact, probably the opposite is true. You appreciate more just how valuable a life like this is.
We would like to extend our gratitude to all of you for your support over the last few days; our hearts go out to all our volunteers who have worked so tirelessly to make sure Ceri made it to this world.
Ceri dies at eight weeks and one day old and now all of our attention is focused on her brother, Tegid. Let's hope he beats the odds and is one of the 30% of ospreys that survive and return to the UK to breed in a few years time.
It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all they say. It hurts like crazy though.
Rest in peace dear friend.
Have a nice day!
