Dyfi cam currently offline. The main computer blew up:
Just to let you know, the main computer at DOP has blown. Gone up in smoke with a burning smell. Honestly!

We can still see the ospreys on secondary systems at DOP, but for now the Live Streaming will be off until we can sort something out in the week.

We will keep you updated of course. Gwynant is still on the camera pole enjoying the views.

EDIT:

Livestream is working again, with a changed angle/camera.

Whilst we have our main computer fixed we have no new photos or videos. But who needs them with images like this one?

Taken from the Observatory yesterday morning by Jo Cheetham of Gwynant taking his first ever flight.

What an astonishing photographic record of a key milestone of a young bird's life. Thank you Jo.

We have our PC back and it's good news. Just the power supply had blown and everything else is intact. Without further ado then, here's the moment Gwynant flew for the first time yesterday morning.

Just a small hop for Gwynant, but a giant leap for osprey conservation in Wales

Surprise! Deri kept us waiting and seemed to be more interested in eating than in flying but finally she surprised us with a long brilliant flight nearly like an adult osprey. She was just waiting for the right moment. Well done, Deri! :loveshower:

Look who's back!

Glesni was away for just over 6 hours today - this is completely normal behaviour for females at this stage of the breeding season.

A sure sign however that migration is not too far away in her thoughts.

The earliest we expect Deri and Gwynant to migrate is around five weeks after fledging -
that takes us to early September. Monty will almost certainly stay until they have both gone.

In all probability, Deri and Gwynant will not fish for themselves until they start their migration, relying instead on the free handouts.

And who can blame them in this weather!

Glesni's work is almost complete for only her second year of breeding. Soon, the urge to head southwards will be greater than the urge to stay.

It's a glorious morning on the Dyfi. Here is a stunning picture of Glesni - still in breeding mode and adding to her nest. For now.
