:hi:

Maybe the question is stupid! Can eggs break through the cold? The eggshell is not so elastic anymore.
It is such a pity

:hi: sova,
I know about eagles not much - on HU chat wrote that one zoologist.
The body temperature they have 40°C - I think eggs can break only when they are not covered in bad/cold wheater.

Good Morning Sova and Solo :hi:

By the WTE- If it is too cold for a very long time, the brood can be lost.

Oh, I found it in my book: Quote:
In severe and prolonged frost, the clutches can freeze.

Source: Wolfgang Fischer Chapter 2.6 Page 60

There will be enough time for another clutch!

BTW:The egg can break in the cold. It happened on an owl nest. You know the owl in the plant pot?

Good Morning :hi:
Thank you Liz. That's exactly what I thought. Yes, I * know * the owl, the story.
Hope the eagles do not need a second clutch.

:hi: Sova,
I observed all previous days this nest, I have much photos (changes and eggs rollings), but I saw nothing unusual on that 2 eggs (probably it was only dirt, not hole)

- from FB page DINPI: minim. -20°C  , I know not exactly where the nest is (this national park is very large), they wrote only: inundation forest area
(the chicks hatching time is the second week in March)
