I think I heard it, too. Great Spotted Woodpecker is drumming and hammering nearby.

No eagle doing anything here - but again a Woodpecker on the thick vertical branch left side

oh what a shame: all kinds of other birds come but eagles stay absent for the most of the time. :faint:

20. March

Wind is blowing hard again and snow is falling - the nest is covered with a thin coat of snow.
Even the nest looks not very inviting in this weather I wished there would be more action here

Hello, Vainamoinen - you are right, the tree is an alder (Alnus); against the patch of white snow a twig with alder cones shows up on the left side of the middle trunk (if the tree keeps still!). And the leaf buds are alder buds.
But which alder I wouldn't know :innocent:

 Had the little hope to see a black woodpecker, nice and close calls. No black, but our friends the GS. Seems to be at least a good place to find nest- äähh cavity materialImage

The GS seems to like this tree

I wonder if there will anything go on here - haven´t heard more eaglecalls, except around the days fireblade caught the WTE at the nest. Don´t want to give up hope .... perhaps when WTEs don´t use this nest another pair of migrating birds will ....???
