now that i looked at Bea's pictures and the pictures from last season more carefully it seems that this is not a new nest after all. i think it is the same nest but the viewing angle is new. i think the camera has been moved a bit higher and to the right of its previous position. the fork of branches which is now in the middle was more to the left last year.

moving the camera higher is a good idea. maybe now it is not so vulnerable to poop-shots. :whistling:

Definitely this is an another nest. Nest tree species is different. Previous nest was in the aspen but this one is in the pine, I think. Maybe I'm wrong but sure that this isn't an aspen.

If it is a pine there should be branches with some pineneedles around ... think there are none .... ? :puzzled:
Pine is evergreen ....

I know that pine is evergreen. May be this is Die Schwarz-Erle (Alnus glutinosa), I don't know. But it's sure it isn't aspen, so it's different nest.

I heard a second or third-hand rumour that the camera had been moved to a new location, and that is why there was a delay in starting this 2013 topic. But, as members are viewing the camera and need to post pictures, here we are! We can hope for enlightenment in due time.

As soon as the leafs are growing we will find out which tree it is definately .... and as Jo wrote already - it is a new location in another tree and you were quite right with your observation

It was a quiet day here at the nest, day a bit windy - sometimes the tree was swaying, good enough to get seasick by watching longer
Now in the evening sun is shining a bit and wind calmed down.

I notice the camera is still going even though it's dark... cool - perhaps on a full moon night we might see something nice...

the woodpeckers were so sweet!
without them this nest would be quite empty. thank you for pictures and videos!

this nest looks so uninhabited compared to Linda's and Sulev's nest. :faint:
... i wonder will there be any eagles here at all... this should be clearly South of Estonia so there should be some action already.
