Photographs of autumnal changes in south England
So far, there have been contributions from Plymouth, in the south west of the country, and from Winchester, in central south. Both areas on or near the coast

First picture - my neighbours' pear tree. See those pears? I wonder if they will be there next week? :whistling:

A tree specialist told me that this is a goat willow. http://www.toof.org.uk/identify/goatwil ... illow.html
It looks greener and fresher than the lime trees.

This is a helpful visitor who will count the leaves for us

The goat willow belongs to our neighbours. They have just told me that the whole tree will be taken down on 30th. September!
How frustrating.

The pears look riper and the lime tree seems considerably more colourful.

Well, I am at a loss to understand how it happened, but that pear is no longer on the tree.

And curious - lime isn't usually an overnight changer. Or have I missed something :puzzled: ? better keep an eye on them, then.

My comment about the next change being bigger was because I think Jo said her neighbour said the tree was going to be chopped down -- but I was wrong it is the goat willow that is being removed.

The goat willow went this morning. I took a couple of pics as the demolition was in progress. Will post later. It does look bare now - that tree took up a lot of horizon!

Maybe I should photograph the limes more frequently.

Just a small amount of goat willow remaining, when I took this.
Now, it has gone completely.
I am not at all sure that I like the new view - too many bricks and roof tops!

But now it is a very English view! Yes, is always a shock when neighbours cut down their trees!
