We use both Jo, but I think Fall slightly more often.
I'll be taking pictures of our trees tomorrow, and bring the ones from last week here as well if you would like it.

Yes, please, Bairbre.
Then we can see your trees as they change colour.

I really have no idea macdoum, it just caught my eye when I was out walking. If I see the home owner about I will try to ask him/her.macdoum wrote: Bairbre.Has the 'Flaming Red Bush' got a name ? Do you know what its called ?

Thank you Kuremari I rather liked that one myself.
There is a lovely tree just up the street, with red, yellow and orange leaves. When the sun returns I'll try for the same type picture....hilightinng the bark against the leaves with the sun streaming from behind.
If you notice, my pictures from yesterday look a little fuzzy? hazy? just as I was taking the pictures a little fog rolled in...

Hi, Macdoum and Bairbre - it might actually be just that, a Flaming or Burning Bush, Euonymus alatus.Bairbre wrote: I really have no idea macdoum, it just caught my eye when I was out walking. If I see the home owner about I will try to ask him/her.
There is a relative to it, Euonymus europaeus, spindle, native in north Europe, with an absolutely incredible colour combination of shocking pink and fiery orange in the fruits. Can't find any photos at the moment that do it full justice.
EDIT: I should of course hedge my bets: E. alatus, if it were around here in Scandinavia, there may be any number of look-alikes "abroad"! Our choice of trees & bushes is very manageably limited.
With the spindle it is a pity that it drops those incredibly exotic-coloured fruits so soon, and the birds, curiously enough, seem to go for them too.

It will be interesting to see if the homeowner can name it...if I can catch them out working in the garden this weekend.

Hi All,
I haven't seen my neighbour to enquire about the "flaming bush" as yet.
We have had wet and very windy weather the past few days. Many trees are bare of leaves, or at least partially bare.
I took some pictures this morning, will try to post them tomorrow (I am at my daughter's house on her laptop) and you will see a signifcant change from last week.
Raking and bagging will have to be done soon as the trees enter their winter rest.
