I'll try to show the fall development in South-East Estonia.
09-09-13 A Maple tree in our farmyard, some early leaves already on ground...
Image is taken with wide lens (24mm), so tree seems quite small, but actually is of about 65cm trunk diameter. In the background some Oak, Ash and Birch trees, and the furthest tree in right, behind old barn is Lime tree (seems also small?) where Tawny Owls nest. Weather is fully cloudy today. View direction is to NE.

Your big tree lost a few leaves and gained quite a bit of colour in just a few days!

You are right, Alice. I remember Olga saying that their trees can change almost overnight.
I think Harald is the most northerly member who is recording his trees for us. Will the Norwegian trees change faster than the Finnish and Estonian trees?

It will be interesting to see. Norwegians have the big see there, and the Gulf stream( :puzzled: ) in the see brings warm water and air ... I propably can't say right in English what I mean. The Gulf 'stream'(?) makes our climate too not that cold as it could be without it, we are quite close to the 'arctic' climate here in Finland.

Olga, you are saying it exactly right = Gulf Stream

My trees (still locked in camera) look like Urmas' tree - a few red leaves, some have fallen. The glorious color here is in mid-October.

It depends on the wheather, if it is cold and dry - not too much rain - the frost can go to - 5-8.. in the 'early' fall, leaves can change colour fast. It changes every year a bit.

As you noticed there is not dark anymore - so I was not early up...
But after some sun shine all the white disapeared. I was these 10 minutes before.
