As Harald says it is now Winter in Norway, he sent me the first Winter photographs from his area.
(See http://www.digitalkunst.com/NewFiles/primstav.html)
This series is mainly about winter fishing
15th October. Bodø Harbour.
1. Modern small and large boats are fishing for herring in this time of the year, for export to Poland and Germany or other countries. The herring fishery has been good in the last years. Modern boats are able to fish far out in the open sea.
2. The herring stay in a cooling tank when the boat is waiting for
delivery, for better quality.
3 The modern nets are deep and wide and are set at night when theherring come up to surface.

A local shrimp (reker) trawler sells their catch after fishing in the fjord. Fresh shrimp are sold at the dock.
The boats name is "HAVØNA" (Sea Eagle). Bodø are HAVØRNBYEN (Sea eagle
town) in Norway.

There is no better fish than that sold straight from a fishing boat. If you can get it home and cook it quickly, you will still taste the sea.
I did that one weekend last year. Unforunately, I don't live close enough to a dockside to do it more often! Harald, thanks for the reminder!

Hei, Harald -
about the Primstav calendar:
Norway is a long country - did all, south to north, really agree on winter beginning on October 14?
And it looks as if October 14 is special - or the traditions come from the same original source? - it is Yellowing day (Kolletamisepäev) in Estonia, and the beginning of the dark part of autumn.
Jo - grilled fresh herring (over open fire) - mmmm ...

Harald sent more photographs - one for the Winter topic, and the others in White Tailed Sea Eagles in Norway.
Here, the snow has gone from the lower ground after some warmer days. An East wind will cool everything down again soon.
